Our farm is on the NSW mid-north coast inland from Port Macquarie, where rare breed heritage pork is raised ethically on pasture and, in better times, seasonal vegetables are grown in the fields. Near River believes it is important for you to connect with the food you eat, and know the story about how it is produced and by whom, and to also be aware of the impact that the quality of the food that you eat has on your health, the health of society and the health of the environment.
In previous years a number of unique farm events have been held: Meals in the Fields and Breakfast in the Beds are pop-up dining experiences that enabled you to come and enjoy Near River, perhaps participate in some farming activities, and see where and how your food is grown. Current conditions do not lend themselves to these activities, though rest assured that once the drought breaks, they will return.
Our pork has garnered State Award wins in the prestigious delicious. Produce Awards in the From the Paddock category in 2016 and 2018, which we are most proud of.
Join our Near River Porcus Club to have our ethically raised pork delivered to select suburbs in Sydney, Newcastle and greater Port Macquarie. Call us on 041299526 for further details.
Alternatively, Sydney siders can find our pork at Feather and Bone in Marrickville, and on the menu regularly at Fred’s in Paddington, and Uccello in the city.
Near River is located in the pristine Hastings hinterland 45kms inland from Port Macquarie with a sealed road to the farm gate. We currently spend most weekends at markets with team members looking after the farm. You are welcome to drop out during the week if you’d like to pick up some pork, cured meats and salumi from The Farmacy, though please call ahead; 0412 995 256
